  2. HASTEN DOWN THE WIND is a triumph for Ronstadt from beginning to end. It follows PRISONER IN DISGUISE and runs circles around that album which many /5().
  3. Nov 08,  · referencing Hasten Down The Wind, LP, Album, RP, Gat, AS 53 , 7E The mastering on this is superb. It has some of the best fidelity of any album I own, including all three 1 step pressings by MOFI/5().
  4. Part of her impeccable string of mids albums that defined California’s soft-rock scene, the Grammy-winning Hasten Down the Wind is Ronstadt at her best—and that’s saying something. Consider the watertight repertoire: The Warren Zevon title track. Patsy Cline’s (by way of Willie Nelson) “Crazy.”.
  5. Ronstadt was the first female artist in history to accomplish this feat. The album earned her a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Performance, Female, her second of a record 11 Grammys. It represented a slight departure from 'sHeart Like a Wheel and 'sPrisoner in Disguise in that she chose to showcase new songwriters over the traditional country rock sound she had been producing up to.
  6. (and I'm beginning to believe its perfection occurs but once in an artist's career), Hasten down the Wind is nonetheless representative of Ronstadt redivivus, of Ronstadt, the sensitive, introspective stirring we have admired all these years. Aside from the inclusion of two innocuous songs—"Lo Siento Mi Vida" and Karla Bonoff's "If He's Ever Near"—the album's problems are fairly well.
  7. Part of her impeccable string of mids albums that defined California's soft-rock scene, Linda Ronstadt's Grammy-winning Hasten Down the Wind is the vocalist at her best – and that's saying something. Just consider the watertight repertoire: The Warren Zevon title track. Patsy Cline's (by way of Willie Nelson) "Crazy.".
  8. Again, Linda Ronstadt repeats her slick, Californian pop/country-rock formula on Hasten Down the Wind. When the material is first-rate -- such as "That'll Be the Day" or "Crazy" -- Ronstadt 's performances are terrific, but on the subpar songs -- such as the three Karla Bonoff numbers -- she's dragged down with her material.6/
  9. Jan 17,  · I just got a new vinyl copy of Mobile Fidelity's release of Linda Ronstadt's "Hasten Down The Wind". It's my favorite album of her's. While I like many of her other albums, this one is less poppy and more dark, partly due to the three Karla Bonoff songs, but you also have Tracy Nelson's "Down So Low" and Ronstadt's own co-written composition.
